On March 12, 1943 the Carpenters Local 1669 signed a Charter with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (U.B.C) and began its existence representing Carpenters members through out Northwestern Ontario.
Carpenters’ Local 1669 is production based union that represents Carpenters, Drywallers, Welders, Divers, Plie Drivers, Scaffolders, Floor Covering Installers and various other craft trades related to Carpentry. Local 1669 represents workers from the Ontario/Manitoba border to White River and into the far remotes of Northern Ontario.
Carpenters Local 1669 encourages and supports our membership to be active with the Local and strive to continuously learn new skills. Through education and active training through the Carpenters Local 1669 Training Centre and the Carpenters International Training Centre, Carpenters Local 1669 has highly skilled members that work safely and productively. Carpenters’ Local 1669 members are proud members that have the “Be the best you can be” attitude and “Done right, on time and on budget” work ethic.
The Carpenters’ Local 1669 has over 650 members who hold Red Seal and/or Provincial Trade Certifications (Certificate of Qualification) in General Carpentry, Drywall, Acoustics, and Lathing Applicators and Floor Covering Installers. These highly skilled Journeypersons have diverse skills in many aspects of the Carpentry Related trade groups. The diversity of skills that our members hold include but not limited to:
